Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust

Aid & Advocacy

At HART, we believe that both aid and advocacy are needed to alleviate poverty, empower communities and promote human rights. This twin-track approach is embedded throughout our work.

Our Aid

We work with fourteen local partners across eight countries in the spheres of education, environment, health, human rights, women’s empowerment and more.

We believe that local people are best placed to identify, understand and fulfil their own needs, and that they should be at the helm of development efforts. All of our projects are locally led from vision through to implementation, by partners who continually inspire us with their efforts and achievements.

Our Advocacy

Many of the communities we support suffer from protracted conflict, oppression, human rights abuses and deeply entrenched poverty. In such situations, aid must go hand-in-hand with advocacy, promoting locally-led solutions with robust international support.

Our team works closely with our partners; visiting them regularly and meeting with local community members in order to accurately represent their needs and priorities.

We publish regular press releases, articles and news-round ups on key issues affecting our partners and the communities they work with.

Baroness Cox (our Founder) regularly speaks in the UK Parliament on behalf the communities that HART supports.
